Daniel
9:27 --- Who is “he”?
Daniel 9:27
“And he will make a firm covenant with
the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he
will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of
abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete
destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes
desolate."
Who
is the “he” of Daniel 9:27? Is it
Jesus? Or is it perhaps the
antichrist? Let’s look at a couple of
other scriptures from Daniel and see if we can let scripture interpret
scripture.
Daniel 12:11-13 "From the time
that the regular sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation is
set up, there will be 1,290 days. "How blessed is he who keeps
waiting and attains to the 1,335 days! "But as for you, go your way to the
end; then you will enter into rest and rise again for your allotted portion at
the end of the age."
Daniel 11:31
"Forces from him will arise,
desecrate the sanctuary fortress, and do away with the regular sacrifice. And they will set up the abomination of
desolation.
Both of these selections refer to stopping the sacrifice. Agreed?
Both of these selections talk about setting up an abomination
of desolation. Agreed?
From the context of the verses surrounding Daniel 11:31, who is
the “him” that is being talked about in Daniel 11:31 who stops the sacrifice
and sets up the abomination of desolation?
Check out verses Daniel 11:21-31.
It is not Jesus. Agreed?
Therefore, who is the “he” that is being talked about in Daniel
9:27 who also stops a sacrifice and sets up an abomination of desolation at the
midpoint of a seven year period?
It is logically not Jesus.
But even if it is Jesus, we are still left with the fact that someone
who is not Jesus is going to stop a sacrifice and set up an abomination of
desolation three and one-half years before the end of the age.
